Most of European Companies are only working5 days per week (hours) it will help the productivity of the employees as per latest Psychological study.
From management point of view, they are always looking to work for by their employees.
Standard work hour is Forty (“40”) hour/week. Now, as a standard practice the forty (“40” hours) is distributed over five days and the people enjoy two days of holidays per week. It may be noted that extending working hours on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday by additional one hour, Friday has been shortened to half-day in some countries to facilitate additional week end activities.
Five days per week system has the following advantages:
1. Considering severe transportation issue in all capital or big cities, people are better off with five days per week.
2. Over all transportation cost is reduced
3. People have more time with families,
4. People can take part time study in weekend end to increase their knowledge and skill.
5. Studies shows that five days per week also enhance people’s productivity
Considering trend and additional benefits, five days per week is better.
No doubt 5 days/40 hours with 2 days off, European standard and the one that I´m used.
In some European countries, like Portugal for example, the 35 hours/week is almost being legally approved.
But at the end, I think I work more than 40 hours per week!
Thanks Dear,
It depends on company activity:
I prefer five days\\week eight working hours \\day
5 days would be ideal, given that all employees believe in the value of time.
An official five-day are four-day workweek for all employees. The change was made largely in an effort to cut costs – on commuting and on utilities like electricity, heating and water. After a year, a financial analysis proved that switching to a four-day workweek substantially reduced costs, both for the state and its employees.
5 days for sure! 6th day usually is non productive, people are tired and think only about rest. It is scientifically proven that a person needs more than 1 day for regeneration. And at the end family and friends are also important for an employee to be creative, relaxed and fresh-minded.
still in KSA negotiation 5 days or 6 per week
I am for five days a week. Leave balance two days for the employees personal engagements and allowing enough space to share their pleasure of earnings with their loved ones. Happiness on personal fronts and ample time to socialize leads to self satisfaction which in turns has an impact on work satisfaction. Thereafter the final positive impact is on employees productivity.
Mere taking more time of employees does not necessarily mean more productivity as their other important factors governing productivity.
From my experience 5 working days makes more productive output.
5 days | 40 Hours in week. the experience and medicaid reports shows 40 hours weekly are ideal for normal body.
5 days is obligatory now in ksa.
However, for operational functions it is more practical to implement 6 days a week
But for managerial, sales, administrations functions (office related jobs) 5 days with extra working hours will be more convenient.
