More number of  client requests to server than its capacity, need to optimise as per the requirement and performance of server.

That kind of problems we can divide to:

- software problem

This could be: unproper configured services, too many services, errors in custom scripts, too many users/clients (working on server or trying to utilize services) and so on.

 

- hardware problem

Heavy load can be caused by dying hardware, e.x. hard disk or its controller,
