Obstacles are not the same always, it may change time to time, present political situation around is not good as per the recent feasibility study, on other side, it is quite okay as Jordan is good and better niche market for all types of businesses.

Not familiar with Jordanian Market and believe they must be having the same issues as that of other 3rd world countries. The only additional Jordan specific contributing factor is the political uncertainty next door i.e. Syrian issue and the presence of ISIS in the region.

Dear Dua, Thanks for the invitation, but I think I'm not the right person to answer. Our local friends answered with their real experience in the respective geography would be relevant. Thanks.

In my resource gathering i believe most of these obstacles are generic for most countries and these form part of the pool of problems

  • Lack of Capital
  • Lack of proper market research
  • Lack of adequate funding possibly as a result of lack of paper trail required for bank lending.
  • Government legislation for example taxation
  • High raw material prices.

1) Improper study of market

2) Insufficient knowledge of products/service

3) Risk to enter a market

4) Insufficient knowledge of governmental policy

5) Insufficient of funds (improper planning).

6) Lack of manpower

The above are few of the reason for failure of your business.

Two hundred small business owners in the manufacturing sector in Jordan were contacted to respond to a questionnaire that was developed as an instrument for data collection. The achieved sample was 112 responses.

The findings indicate that the main causes of small business failure, as perceived by the respondents, can be categorized as two major factors: managerial factors and financial factors. Based on these findings and to upgrade the capability of small business owners, special considerations should be given to these two types of skills. Respondents seem to expect too much support from the government. They strongly believe that the government can do a lot to support small business. Tax exemptions, protection, and regulation of businesses are among the major roles that the government is expected to play. Such expectations are seen as unrealistic given the environment of business nowadays that concentrates on little government involvement in business affairs.

Thanks for the Invite. But since it out of my expertise (geographically speaking) I cannot say much about the issue raised.
