The first stop is the hypervisor, VMware has ESXi and Microsoft has Hyper-V. And while both may do similar things, how they're designed and implemented is a different story. Here are the main products that you have to start working with, well they are:VMware ESXi:The VMware ESXi hypervisor is the foundational piece in the VMware product family. ESXi sits on-top of the hardware and provides the building block for virtualization. ESXi is a single focused product with limited functionality outside of the hypervisor role.Microsoft Hyper-V:The Microsoft Hyper-V hypervisor is not a distinct product but a role that can be added onto the Windows Server 2012 platform. While this can present a larger install footprint than most VMware administrators are used to, it does give them the ability to leverage existing Windows Server capabilities for management and troubleshooting. The install footprint can be reduced if Server Core is used rather than the entire Microsoft GUI.

So..Microsoft Hyper-V
