I teach TOEFL section by section. However,  I design lessons for all aspects in order to cover each one by students understanding of stages, subsequent practice or discussion of questions in class and homework assignments.

İn my experience you have to take a look at the students individually. In the middle east there are such a variety of differently able students that one teaching style will not fit. Depending on the needs I would focus on a skills integrated learning with a high student lead teaching as a way of showing mastering of the skill. But each classroom is different and only the teachers in the classroom really understand what is best for their students, but we all have our strengths that we like to revert to.

How do you make sure students are grasping the objective you are trying to convey? By allowing students to do round table discussions, asking questions, but mainly by holding students accountable for their learning and leading by example.

I teach it section by section so the students understand how to go through the test and look for some hints that would help them get the answer.
