Use proper jigs and fixtures,
Avoid over welding,
Use intermittent welding,
Use as few weld passes as possible,
Use the back step welding technique,
Minimize welding time
There are ways to avoid distortion in welding such as
1. Using proper clamps and fixtures.
2. welding technique.
3.avoiding over welding.
DURING WELDING :- AVOID OVER-WELD, USE INTERMITTENT WELD,USE AS LESS WELD PASSES IF APPLICABLE, PLACE WELD NEAR THE NEUTRAL AXIS, BALANCE WELDS, BACK STEP WELDING, PLANNED WELDING SEQUENCE, STRONG BACK, RESTRAINT.ETC....
Avoid over welding
minimize welding time
proper jigs and fixtures
neutral welding techniques
1.Avoid over welding
2.Use intermittent welding
3.Use as few weld passes as possible
4.Place welds near the neutral axis
5.Use the back step welding technique
6.Thermal stress relieving
7.Alternate the welding sequence
8.Minimize welding time
FOLLOW THE WELDING PROCEDURE SPECIFICATION, ASSESS THE MATERIAL PROPERTIES AND HEAT RESISTANCE FOR YOU TO ADJUST THE PROCESS AND CURRENT YOU WILL BE USING.THEN IF THERE IS A NEED OF PREHEATING DO IT WITH THE HELP OF THE WPS AND SOME JIGS AND FIXTURES TO HOLD THE WELDMENTS
To prevent or minimize weld distortion, methods must be used both in design and during welding to overcome the effects of the heating and cooling cycle. Shrinkage cannot be prevented, but it can be controlled. Several ways can be used to minimize distortion caused by shrinkage:
1.Avoid over welding
2.Use intermittent welding
3.Use as few weld passes as possible
4.Place welds near the neutral axis
5.Use the back step welding technique
6.Thermal stress relieving
7.Alternate the welding sequence
8.Minimize welding time
in this process ,we have to using the various methods of finding defects process..using that method to easily find out out the defects from inspetion..its called a welding inspection
Pre Heating can help minimize distortion where required by WPS
Post Weld Heat Treatment (if required by WPS)
Controlled Heat Input
Use of Proper Jigs & Fixtures
Proper heat input
Heat treatment (if needed)
Use restraints
.Place welds near the neutral axis
