One of the ways of managing multiple projects concurrently is time management and proper planning.
In today's business world, medium to large business organizations do have multiple projects that run concurrently. As the Technical Support Engineer, you must understand the business priority of each of these projects. The business always have scale of priotization for situation like this. Making the business priotization scale your own scale of responsiveness will be of help in managing your workload as a Technical Support Engineer.
In addition, people management will also be handy as this will ensure that when your customers are mounting pressure on you, many will be considerate bearing in mind their relationship with you. The ability to also plan your projects and day along with timeline will also reduce the pressure that the workload might cost you.
Lastly, the use of technology will also help. Use of collaboration tools can help you to multi-task. You can micro-manage your workload by using available social or collaborating tools effectively.
I have experienced multiple projects in some 5 years back in which my Bank was to start 3 separate banks outside my country and at the same time, I was to handle the migration of our Microsoft Exchange infrastructure from 2003 environment to 2007/2008 infrastructure. The way this was addressed was to sit down with the executive management and uinderstand the scale of priority of these projects knowing fully well that some of the projects will increase the bottom line of the business instantly while others will improve service delivery. I was able to deliver on all sides and got rewarded as a result of working in line with management's expectations.
I think the experience I summarized may be handy in the question you raised.
Thank you.
