During designing of duct system the airflow rate and dehumidification etc for each area is calculated. If there is airflow resistance, this would affect the cooling of area because the calculated CFM is not satisfied. So, proper cooling will not occur. Also, airflow resistance means heat formation. There are 2 ways this can be avoided, either make sure that there are no parts or areas where resistance comes into play like during construction and design, or we consider airflow resistance as one of the factors in calculation and compensate for it while designing.
