Leaders \\ Managers sometimes forcing to travel and direct the organization remotely , is there any feature through this situation or that will cause problem and obstacles ?
We all know there are plans and procedures but we are talking on employees and their performance ..
Managing remotely is a challenge but now with all sorts of digital communication, it is has become much easier. The following tips may be helpful:
1. Communicate with the remote office on daily basis through email and telephone.
2. Have video conferencing with Skype at least once a week
3. Have weekly activity report and monthly financial report. The financial report is to be backed by Bank Statement and Bank reconciliation report
I don't think managing your team remotely is a problem or could affect performance, its only a challenge and depends on how tighten is your tools and process, and nowadays technology make it much more easier to track everything from anywhere.
And if you believe that "when the cat away the mice will play", just don't play the cat and mice game.
there is a program for PC, it's called TimeDoctor, it display monitor of employees and staff while working, you can use that while travelling to check on the process of these employees and how did they do, other then that there is hiring someone to be specialist that is like team leader, or so, to be able to focus on these issues on time of manager travelling, which is very good way to keep the workflow going while having a supervisor to deal with it.
Managing remotely was not possible few decade before, but due to enhancement in technology managing remotely has finally come true. Laptop, Tv or mobile are medium of managing remotely.
Below are few features of managing remotely
1) Time for small talk
2) Uses video as much as you can
3) Longer one on ones
4) Animated gifs and emoticons to convey emotion
The Question here, is there any employee performance problem while the Boss/Manager on a Business trip ( Out of the Company):
In my experience, there is no any problems and it would be same effect as I am inside the Company because inside my company it is totally monitored by CCTV Camera and I can view it at anytime from any part of the world on my mobile, all employees are aware this operations, they are very perfect.

Managing remotely now a days increasing because of cost effective mainly.
some of the features are
1. cost effective
2. It allows employees to work freely and come up with new ideas
3. its more productive with clear supervision
I also agree with Mr.Fazlur, I might also add that the remote outpost for the company must have a great management with no weaknesses in order to succeed.
In addition to the answers which I agree with, i would like to add that as long as you use the right tools and software your remotely management should be ok !
You might have some "cons" but most of progresses and duties should be done accordingly !
