difference between Hub vs Switch  in the method in which frames are being delivered. In a hub, a frame is passed along or "broadcast" to every one of its ports.  The hub has no way of distinguishing which port a frame should be sent to. A switch, however, keeps a record of the MAC addresses of all the devices connected to it. With this information, a switch can identify which system is sitting on which port. So when a frame is received, it knows exactly which port to send it to, Routers are completely different devices. Where a hub or switch is concerned with transmitting frames.

These are the best way to do a troubleshooting:

1.Get the claim information from customer or field member first.

2. Remove all input output device from the set.

3. Confirm the symptom whether it is same as reported or not.

4. Once the symptom is confirmed, proceed with tackling the issue base on the symptom.

5. If it is related to power issue then just focus on power supply line. Few tips on how to troubleshoot power line:

- check incoming power supply

- check main fuse and other fuse that related to power line whether it is open or close

- if the fuse in close/good then you have to do a further checking until you found the faulty line.

- if the fuse is open/no good, then check whether that line is short to ground or not.

- if the line is not short to ground then just simply replace the fuse and that should rectify the problem.

-but if the line is short to ground then you have to hang or remove few parts to identify which part is causing the short to ground problem. Usually it is ic or capacitor is causing this problem.

6. If the symptom related to sound, picture or performance you can just simply try to update the software to the latest firmware available. If it solved the problem it is software issue.

7.If the problem still not rectify, then you the troubleshoot the hardware by focusing on the related line such as audio circuit or video circuit.

8.Once you found the faulty part replace it and you have aging the set for few period of time to ensure that the symptom is totally gone.

9.Done

The best is to observe and analyses the situation.Measure specific results at test points. If until last test point is ok then go ahead.Or one can devide an situation in exactly two half and find out the problem in particular, then further divide it..and go on till you get exact cause. This helps is saving time and energy.
