If you want to live in Dubai and start a business which can provide self-sponsoring for your residence visa, then you need to register a company either in the free zone or as LLC. Both kinds will cost you any where from 25,000 to 35,000 dirhams depending on the type of company and it's location. Then you'll need to rent a office which will cost another 50,000 per year if you get it through the service of office/visa set up companies. Then you'll need to build a website and a marketing campaign for your business provided that you don't need a store or a warehouse or a showroom because you'll start a consulting or coaching or service business. So, we're talking about 100,000 dirhams to establish a non-tangible service business in Dubai. That's around US$35,000. If that sounds good to you go ahead and do it.
