Why would you use external media such as Tapes or Hard Disks for Backups?

Im not saying that all people should used Tapes and Hard Disks to used as their Media Back Up, but i guess its just from my point of view that its still safe to used those kind of Medium to store back up such as important matter of our life, because as of now upon the evolution of our technology is really unexplainable a lot of genius people when it comes to computer matter arrives. Now a days where just using Cloud Storage where we can store back up in Cloud or in just computer itself, and where not thinking about the things can happen if some people hack our Cloud Storage information and harmed all of the important information that we hide. I know we can put a password on it but i'm just saying my point of view using the traditional way of storing file back up for our own security. We may experiencing now the innovative life where we used high-tech technologies which gives a really big help to our daily lives. But as a person i still believing and still using the traditional way of storing or saving back ups of file and we must don't forget where our all ideas came from.
