Why is it necessary to keep VFD set point to minimum requirement of a process?

It is always good practice to keep the VFD Speed setpoint minimum, so that the speed can be varied depending upon the requirment of the  application.If the process is designed for50 KW output from the VFD and the running application requires less output say20 KW it is always good to keep the set point in the minimum.

When the setpoint is kept minimum , the output frequency reduces along with output voltage and this in turn reduces the output power.When output power is reduced , the energy consumed by the process wil reduce and this will reduce the electricity bill .

On other hand if the requirment increases , just by increasing the setpoint the desired ouput can be achieved.
