compressor compresses low pessure air into high pressure and pump to supply oil under pressure to the various engine parts

The main difference between compresser & pump is the discharge pr. Compresser can generate up to discharge pr of 6-7 Bar while pump can generate the discharge pr of up to 200 Bar or more than that.

Second Compresser can handle compressible fluid, but pump can handle incompresible fluid.

There are quite differences between compressor and pump. A compressor is a fluid machine which is constructed to increase the pressure and fluid displacing certain type called compressible, such as gases and vapors. This is done through an energy exchange between the machine and the fluid in which the work carried out by the compressor is transferred to the substance passing through it becoming energy flow, increasing its pressure. A pump, is used to increase the pressure of a liquid by adding energy to the hydraulic system to move fluid in a lower pressure zone or higher altitude to another pressure or altitude.

Moving hydraulic fluid through a system requires either a pump or compressor. Both achieve this goal, but through different operating methods. Pumps have the ability to move liquids or gases. Compressors typically only move gas due to its natural ability to be compressed. Pumps and compressors both have very high pressure rises.

pump are used to increase and decrease the pressure of liquids and travels from one to 2nd place.

Compressor used for gasses and air increase and decrease the pressure.

compressed volume and deliver power

pumps create volume, compressors create pressure.

Pumps are used to transport liquids by pressurising them, from a source either above or below the pump to any destination point of any height. and A compressor, is used to increase pressure of a fluid , and is used just like a pump in the way of transporting gases , or pressurising them for some chemical or mechanical operations

Sometimes the words "pump" and "compressor" are used interchangeably, but there is a difference: A pump is a machine that moves a fluid (either liquid or gas) from one place to another. A compressor is a machine that squeezes a gas into a smaller volume and (often) pumps it somewhere else at the same time.

compressore used pistons to create pressure on the vapor, gas, or liquid. While, the pump used  impeller to increase the pressure on the liquid or gas.

The type of fluid that you want to apply work on it.

Compressor applied work on gases and Pumps applied work on liquid.
