SCALANCE brand belongs to SIEMENS and it is a range of industrial Ethernet Switches. It is not mandatory to have SCALANCE switches from SIEMENS in particular but you can use any type of other industrial switches brands like HIRSCHMANN, MOXA, ADVANTECH ... etc.
I don't know the type of network you are using or your transmission media so if you can share more detailed information I can give more advices.
