The best investment decision is a mixed investment portfolio, where you have different industries and long term (Bonds) and short term (stocks) investment.

At the end of each period, whether it is weekly or bi-weekly an investor should reconsider his/her options and reevaluate the portfolio.

Either form of investment can be beneficial, it just depends on what it is that you are trying to achieve and over what type of timeline. If you are trying to play it safe, a short-term investment is going to be better than a long-term investment, of course. You don't want to have your money tied up in an investment that you don't find to be useful to the company. Once you sign a contract for a long-term investment, you are obligated to fulfill the terms of that contract. There is no going back and exiting it. Safeguard yourself with either a shorter term investment, or you simply include an Exit Clause in the contract for that long-term investment,. The Exit Clause will allow you/the company to back out of the investment whenever or under whatever circumstances you find to be legitimate.

Depending on the objectives and needs of the investor both short term and long term investment can be appropriate. However long term investment is considered better because it is durable in time and take into account lifecycle of investments and is more stable than short term investment.
