Strategic Brand Management was defined by Jean-Noel Kapferer in his book "Strategic Brand Management: Creating and Sustaining Brand Equity Long Term" (published in 1997) as that branch of brand management that deals with the concept and practice of managing a brand in its totality.
Just like Total Quality Management (or "TQM") is an integrative philosophy of management for continuously improving the quality of products and processes, Strategic Brand Management is a long-term and integrative approach that the company adopts in creating, developing and managing its brand.
The Strategic Brand Management process adds value to the company’s products and services by creating a unique identity in the marketplace.
It allows the company to differentiate itself from its competitors, and communicate its message and market position in a consistent and holistic manner.

Strategic Brand Management Process '' according to Kevin Lane Keller (2nd Edition) are : Identifying and Establishing Brand Positioning and Values Planning and Implementing Brand Marketing Programs Measuring and Interpreting Brand Performance Growing and Sustaining Brand Equity it is important because you have to build a unique personality in the market, and how you want your client to see you if you were a person, covering your relation and associations with him in several perspectives: credibility, emotions, image, loyalty, advocacy ...etc and from my point of view businesses that are not working on there corporate brands will suffer in the future.

The aim of a brand strategy is to enhance the internal and external opportunities of the brand.
The brand strategy must be strategic, visionary and proactive rather than tactical and reactive.
Each brand must find its own holy grail to success – in the shape of a unique and relevant brand identity and brand vision, which are the first elements that must be in place when developing a brand strategy.
The brand vision is brought to life through a customized brand strategy able to release the full potential of the brand.
Brand managers must have long-term rather than a short term focus.
If the performance of the brand is based on quarterly sales figures, chances are that the brand strategy will end up being much more tactical than strategic, without enough visionary thinking to drive the growth and the strength of the brand in the future.
A prerequisite for making the brand strategy work is that it is closely linked to the business strategy.
This means that the brand and the brand strategy should not be perceived as something other than or as an addition to business strategy developed at late stages in a product launch for example.
In an ideal world, business and brand strategy should be developed simultaneously and support each other.
The brand vision must also resonate with consumers and differentiate the brand from competitors.
Once the brand vision has been established, a customized range of elements that comprise the brand strategy should be prioritized and developed.
