The BLS predicts general merchandise stores, like warehouse clubs and supercenters, will experience the strongest job growth, making them a good target for job seekers. Demand for salespeople in this retail niche could grow as much as 28 percent over the 2012-2022 period. Retail jobs in department stores, on the other hand, are projected to grow only 5 percent over the same time period.
