In my view, there are at least three environmental factors that can affect a business:

1. Non-compliance to environmental regulations -  that could lead to financial penalties, physical closure of business, loss of goodwill in the market, etc.

2. Improper Operation management - leading to excessive raw material consumption, exceedance of emissions, excessive waste generation, etc. that could summarily affect the financial viability of business and its performance

3.  Environmental regulations - stricter regulations at one place than the others would affect the trans-boundary business viability; changes in the regulations, too, can cause unexpected requirement of additional finances for investment in the business.
