Yes , I absolutely agree even so when companies use properly mission, vision and values statements can be very powerful tools. They are inspiring words developed by leaders to clearly and concisely convey the purpose, direction and driving forces of their organization. By creating clear, meaningful and reflective statements, you can powerfully communicate your intentions and motivate and inspire your team to ensure they understand the objectives of the organization, to make consistent everyday decisions and to achieve buy-in to new directions. Your team members will gain a sense of pride in working as part of an organization that stands for something and are united by a common sense of purpose. The explanation Why do they matter  is that Mission, vision and values statements are crucial to communicating the “who, what and why” for your organization to corporate management, team members and to the users of your services. It’s not enough to feel passionate about the products and services your organization offers, you and your entire team also have to consciously understand the framework of what drives the organization. This is essential in order to effectively communicate those drivers to a diverse group of people. The more clearly you can articulate your high-level goals from the start, the less time and resources you will spend on trying to fix poor communication, alignment, employee engagement and unwanted cultural behaviors later. Your strategic goals and tactical plans will be more aligned, streamlined and easier to communicate to your stakeholders.

Organization Strategy

Vision and mission statements play an important role in strategy development by providing vehicles to generate and screen strategic options. They also provide organizational identity and understanding of business directions.

Vision

Dream or a picture to be achieved ultimately.

Created by consensus. Forms mental image of future to which people can align. Describes something possible, not necessarily predictable. Provides direction and focus. Pulls people, who hold it, towards it.

Mission

Statement of business.

States the business reason for the organization's existence. Does not state an outcome. Contains no time limit or measurement. Provides basis for decisions on resource allocation and appropriate objectives. Defines current and future business in terms of product, score, customer, reason, and market price.

Goals

Results to be achieved.

Describes ideal states to be achieved at some unidentified future time. Defined consistent with and related directly to vision and mission. Guide everyday decisions and actions. Do not necessarily deal with measurable results.

Objectives

How - Actions and Results - to plan to achieve the desired results.

Focuses on critical organization issues and milestones. Describe activities to be accomplished to achieve goals. Identify dates when specific results are to be accomplished. Measurable in terms of whether or not they are achieved. They may be changed when necessary for progress towards goals.

I do not think there is any organization without  a purpose, moreover organizations are established for achieving goals with vision. Orgaizational goals may be for profit, social service,  employment opprtunities or any other goals.
