First of all, the word software is uncountable, so you cant say softwares, and if you had to, say software programs.
This is a famous question, the word best is not enough, you should say "best for ...".
In my opinion :
- for simple to medium mechanical engineering (solid part, sheet metal, assemblies ...) I suggest the family of Solidworks, Inventor and SolidEdge,
- as for complicated projects that required team work, it is the turn of end way software such as Creo, NX and Catia. they can be used with simple projects but its like hunting a bird with a rocket.
- autoCAD, is very special, you find it almost everywhere, but it is not the solution for 3D modeling. because it is a geometry based software, there is no history and it is very hard to create complex geometry.
- there are other families used in other fields, like Modo and 3DSMax for animation and cartoon personal. ArchiCAD and Revit for architecture. Tekla and Robot for steel structure and concrete ...
CAD software is a whole world.
