Yes, but it will be good if you make the website using a custom framework like Laravel, CI etc, due to complexity of the functionality.
I recommend always to build websites from scratch to have a great control for all functions as for buddypress I never used it :)
With some effort it is possible, but, the performance will be pretty low. So, this method is not recommended.
