What will be the future of Medical Transcription?

Previously, medical transcription was being done mostly manually. However, now most of the companies are switching to new technology of Voice Recognition Systems (Speech Recognition), in which audio recording is automatically transcribed by the system, and only editors have play their role in correcting some minor changes. How this new technology will affect the future of Entry level transcribers (who are not yet editors)?

Khawar,

With the rise in voice and speech recognition technologies, the world is for sure going towards auto-transcription. One thing to note however is, as the technology gets better, the errors in the transcribed vesions will get reduced. At that point, as profits waver and human element is on the downward trend, entry level personnel will be the most appreciated for the low wage/benefit scenario with them. Entry level personnel will be well capable of  performing the basic editorial jobs... and some new field will rise to accomodate the rest.
