Dear Osama,

It all depends on your actual requirement if Data Center has required height for plenum then you may select down discharge which is most suitable for maximum configuration, however sizing of datacenter is also important as racks increase and sq ft increased you have to increase height of raised floor for proper air circulation then you may stuck with height clearance according to TierIV or Tier III requirments.

InRow cooling may be selected if power density of racks are in discrete levels so accordingly you may select appropriate ratings for every racks but practically its not more common.

CRAC(Computer Room Air Conditioning) are used for top discharge front discharge and down discharge as required for Data Center upto25 racks and  for larger DCs you have to opt for CRAH (Computer Room Air Handling) Units.

Please feel free if you have any other question.

Thank You very much for such a detailed info. I'm designing a DC of about1600 sg.ft. and going for POD solutions. Each POD will cover240 sq.ft. and posses13 Racks for equipment,3 racks for In-row cooling units and1 rack for UPS. Have you experienced such design of DC ?
