A real creative leader would deal it in a very ideal way and would not be any problems of mistakes, in other way, most of the creative leaders have four eyes, two in back side and two in front side as usual. At the same time, they are more seriously dealing with big details because it needs more time, effort, finance and might cause big lose if not careful. And of course, he knows his managers and their capabilities he will select the better one and  assign them the small details but rather even the leader would supervise it.

The reason why this happens is that there is poor delegation of the work that needs to be done and/or communication about how to accomplish it.  Management requires using the mind tools necessary for effectively delegation which is required to get more done the right way with less effort and fewer mishaps.

To avoid mistakes in the small details, management must utilize a critical strategy of delegation to establish checkpoints at the end of projects, by being proactive, and by staying in the loop to correct deviation from the desired results.  Management must impart a clear vision of the Big Picture that he/she is expecting and communicate it effectively.

Proper conveyance of the expected work also includes establishing and defining the role of authority and support that will be provided by management and which independent initiative is expected of the employee.

This clarity of expectations will refrain management from micromanaging as well as allow employees to express their independence resulting in higher  morale, greater personal initiative, and visible positive outcomes free from looming mistakes in the detail of the work and course of the project.

We need to understand two things clearly. What is big and small?

Coming to organization setup, Lets say Big things are Long term goals and small things are short term goals. Here one cannot leave out one thing for other, because well set goals are interlinked to each other.

To avoid lapses in small or big things, we need to divide the goals into managing and check points. each and every goals then will be checked by a person and managed by other person means a goal for a person will be check point will be a managing point for other person. With this setup, we can ensure everything is monitored and accounted. A systematic way of working.

It depends on role. Yes for leaders the strength lies in macro management and leave the things which their subordinates can do delegate to them. remember a true leader produce more leaders, believes on delegation and unity of command.
