there is no economically viable alternative to SF6 gas for high voltage (HV) switchgear (> kV)in the transmission network, application of SF6 is totallyunnecessary for medium voltage (MV) switchgear (< kV)in the distribution network.Fully equivalent alternatives are commercially available on themarket. These alternatives may consist of the combination ofvacuum technology for switching and high-quality materials forinsulation purposes, resulting in minimized dimensions.

For HV & EHV switchgear we can use ABCB( Air Blast Circuit Breaker, By High Pressure Air)

& for medium voltage say 33 KV we can use VCB( Vacuum Circuit Breaker in-spite of SF6 ....
