Keep up with the news and see how they could match the needs of your students. It is not a rule that anything new is something better, I guess
In my opinion, you can follow three suggestions:
1. Attend refresher course regularly
2. Try to experiment and update / adopt new methodology
3. Accept technology and be subjective as well as objective as per requirement.
Without any insult or arrogance but there are mistakes in your question
I think you mean by methologies >> methodologies
and thier is no need for the second "you" but you clarified your point
You must be aware of the fact that a teacher is the one who transfer knowledge to others. In other words, at the First Point, you are a little superior than others.
You should be a "mother" during teaching, kind, soft, loving and caring. Don't ever get tired of answering of same questions.
Your knowledge of subject matter should be updated. You must have full grasp over your topic and always be ready for all kinds of questions from the students.
Use picture of related topic, audio, references, quotations games & activities are the best sources of teaching.
Always allow students to exercise their own creative skills.
increase students' interest by changing the environment of the class room New ideas, picture, colour scheme, arrangement of furniture may be good way to change the environment.
Involve students in educational games; assign targets, held small competition.
These observations make every teacher in constant evolution in their teaching methods,In order to avoid any problems or obstacles they may face with students of all ages
Again, Without any insult accept my notes
Just keep on new trends, communicat with teachers, read the mags on methods
One should be life long learner to keep oneself updated and to adopt the methodologies of teaching/learning to overcome the problems. I keep myself up-to-date as follows:
1. Attending the content/method refreshes courses in my special field of Mathematics,
2. Attending the computer/tech application courses to integrate computer/tech in my teaching.
3. Using the all the technologies available at proper places and time integrating them into my teaching [for examples: INTERNET, smart board, smart phone, Word, Excel, programming languages, green board, white board, black board, web site for test reviews and homework (see at URL: http://mianyusuf.uniquetutor.com/ etc)].
4. Inspiring my students/myself using mathematics as FUN [Go to: http://mianyusuf.uniquetutor.com/resume.htm and click Fun Math]
5. Open and ready to learn any useful thing anywhere at any time.
If one would enjoy his/her teaching/learning then his/her teaching/learning would become his/her own reward.
Good Luck the Best Teachers of the WORLD.
Thanks.
