Carry out risk assesments to avoid accidents. Well ware about legal standards and procedure. Well aware about hazard related jobs and known suitable precautions.

Civil engineers can be proactive if he is knowledgable on his job. He knows how to plan, execute them, ready for any problems that will arrise and dependable on his job. This could be helpful on how to become a proactive: 1) always do a research related on your work. 2) read standards, procedures, management book, engineering books and others that can improve yourself on your work. 3) try to learn more from more experience engineers on the field.
