What are the advantages of vmware virtualisation over Microsoft Hyper-V?
One of the most exciting features in Windows Server 2008 is Hyper-V, Microsoft'sforay into the virtualization market. With Hyper-V, Microsoft is taking on VMwareESX and Citrix XenServer by building a hypervisor and virtualization management tools directly into its operating system.
No need for Windows Update, better resource optimization and controll
Microsoft Hyper-V was introduced later which limits user choice in this situation, and it's used as a more generalized technique to actually protect the Host more than it's Guests, e.g. on Windows 10, when Hyper-V is active, it completely hides the Physical Memroy of lsass.exe, which is a major protection in my opinion.
You can use vmware on any platform hyperV only come with windows 8.
Hyper V run over Microsoft environment or OS, but VMware doesn't require any OS. Different feature has VMware like V-center, VMotion & HA etc.
Much More better Admin as compared to Microsoft Hyper-V 1. vCenter
2. vMotion
3. svMotion
4. High Availbility
Both are good, Microsoft Hyper-V is free and comes with Microsoft Server Professional and Data Center Editions, we do not need to pay extra money for its licenses, Whereas, for VMware we have to buy its licenses which are quite expensive.
Each Hypervisor has advantages and disadvantages of course.
VMware VSphere ESXI6 has scalability and extendability using VCenter and optional features although substantially higher cost due in part to per CPU licensing and and is more complex to manage.
Microsoft Hyper-V has integrated graphical console and PowerShell and System Center and Back Office integration and free OS licensing in its Datacenter version.
In the SME environment,, Hyper-V is better value and lower admin costs without unnecessary complexity and cost.
