its a non reversible material test, generally used to obtain the mechanical carateristics of the tested material (Metal, concrete, plastic...)

the test is also used to define the required specification and procedure during the conception, construction and operating phases wich called qualification of the material.

different tests are used as resilience, tensile, endurance...

DT is the application of physical principles employed for the purpose of determining the characteristics of materials or components or systems and for detecting and assessing the inhomogenities and harmful defects with detroying the usefulness of such materials or components or systems.
