The best technique is to give a short quiz in order to gauge the retention of the participants. In that way you may be able to know which are the things he did not understand and be able to help on that certain area. You may also give a Role Play as a picture of the actual scenarios that they may encounter after the training. This way you can say that you have successfully run a training session.
For Conducting best Successful Training are as below:
1. Relevant Agenda to the relevant participants and designated employees
2.The trainer should have an introduction session with participants at the start of the training to know each other by name which helps to interact with each other easily.
3. Agenda should follow in swing and line with the involvement of the participants.
4. Case studies to be taken up
5. Discussion of case studies and involving of the participants as practical exercise putting the participants in that situation and taking there views and presence of mine works.
6. Trainer should be the observer and the participants should be the trainer for themselves will help them understand the session and agenda more deeply which will be their take home for implementing in the day to day activity as expected by the organization management.
7. In the training session the trainer has to share the expertise more rather being slide reader as the participants are also the best slide reader
8. At end of the session feedback is more important from both trainer as well as participants which will identify actual worth of the training session
9. Most Important and the last is the Training Incharge from the oraganization has to tap the after training activities and identify the implementation of the learning during the training in the day to day work.

For me, the top on the line should be the identification of the trainees to be sent to any training is first thing to note down. Who should attend and what's the training benefits for them.
