For the critical and high value items from new supplier, 3rd party inspection is must.

However, we should not forget that the 3rd party inspection comes with its own cost, hence it is always advisable to do cost - benefit analysis before jumping to any decision

For inspection of goods, normally the following process is employed

1.       For high value contracts for supply or goods or works it is always good to hire a third party inspector.

2.       For low value good or works, in house inspection is good provided the office has the required staff to carry out inspection

3.       For supplies which will be supplied over a period of time in several batches, it would be fine to have combination of in-house and as well as third party inspector.

Third party inspection of goods is always better, since it transfers responsibility to else parts.
