Catia is the best one for future design applications, Because it is easily draw and quickly modeling in various view of sections and all..

Catia is best for who interested in design

This all are old one.from this, you can study catia. But i am preferring BIM (building information modeling) and rivet software for construction  engineers

I'm going to answer this question as a mechanical engineer. Eaxh software mentiones has its own advantages and disadvantages. It depends on the type of company you are targetting on. Auto cad is a low end software its simple, its used in low or small and medium scale industry so if you are targetting to get into industry like fabrication i suggest you to go with this. Solidworks and creo/ProE are the next level, its more advanced than autocad, and there is 3d modelling too. Only difference in these softwares are their options (solidworks being more advance) this is uded in medium scale indutries.

Then comes CATIA, this software actually made a revolution in design sector you can do anything and eveything in this sofware. Catia is mainly used in high end industry, the main highlight of catia is the surface designing, as of now no other software can provide the features for surface designing as catia does. So if you are targetting to grt into industries like aviation, automotive where there is surface modelling then i suggest you to go with this.

Andfinally my personal favourite Nx by Unigraphics(now owned by siemens) the UI is simple exceptional they have a wide range of options you can do a gears, spring coils in just seconds. They have a wide and very vast range of options .which makes the user to design very fast. and nowadays all the aviation sector are using Nx.

So i suggest you to do AutoCAd, CATIA or UG, and an analysis software such as ansys or nastran or hypermesh.

and remember all the softwares are similar so its not a big deal. If you kno Catia then you will be able to catch uo with solidworks and proe.

All the Best
