no , CMS ( content manage systems ) like wordpress use multiple websites (with the same IP ) .
consider that you have one IP and you want to make subdomains for 100 of your friends , each one will have his own website , will that effect on them at search engine like google and similar ? , observe that google site it self contain a lot of subdomains .
what a bout multiple IPs with the same content , well that effect ? yes refere to this article at wikipedia
if you buy multiple websites with different IPs (e.g www.mywebsite.com , www.mywebsite.org , www.mywebsite.net , www.mywebsite.info , www.mywebsite.teach , www.mywebsite.xyz , www.mywebsite.tv , www.mywebsite.co.uk , www.mywebsite.io ) , and put the same contents for all , and you get the top ranks for your contents , SERPs will contain 9 same contents for 9 IPs (Websites addresses) , if all big websites made that it will be a disaster, so google must control that .
Shared and dedicated IP has given same ranking factor, the weight and impact , but where sharing an IP address could effect your site, If your IP address with a spammy or misbehaving website such as a link farm, this can have a negative effect on your search engine ranking - may be penalised for the behaviour of an unrelated website.
Previously Google took it negatively. But now a days Google is skipping this. We have over 500 domain hosted in same IP. All are working fine.
Not any more because now you can have two or more websites at same IP
