Absorption Spectroscopy used to determine the Analytes by Qualitative and Quantitative based on excitation Wavelength, Example: UV/ViS spectrometer used with particular wavelength determines that analytes is present or not, if used linear calibration then concentration can be known.

Same applicable for all spectroscopy instruments uses source for excitation.
