The first and most important thing is that it is your home: financial considerations are important - very important - but they are secondary.

There is no intrinsic advantage to one over the other - it depends on local customs and laws and your individual circumstances.

In the long term, it's usually better to buy than rent because you end up with an asset, but there are many exceptions.
