1. The Building (external walls, roof) Should be properly Insulated as per ashrae 90.1
2. Avoid usage of glass material with high shading coefficient value. it has to be as per the design reuirement or as per ashrae fundamentals handbook.
3.By providing proper natural ventilation.
4. if it is a offcie building area. external wall area should not be exposed to direct sunlight.
5.By make sure building is air tight. less leakage, less air infiltration. (of outside air)
6.mimize the usage of Skylight Glass. when there is sufficent lighting is available.
7.By minimizing un-necessary openings.
8. By minimizing the usage of glass doors if the wall is exposed.
9.avoid offcie rooms design, adjacent to unconditioned areas.
10.All the fittings and accessories used for building structure should be installed as per the building code.
11.By providing air lock rooms near the Manin entrance areas.
Indoor plants,,,,lots of indoor plants.Out side building where heat hits most,,, plant some more trees, like Money Plant, they will cover all that wall in almost no time, and reduce heat induction.
As a Mechanical Engineer we may recommend to use Thermal Insulation in Wall and specially Roof.
If you see the old houses you will feel walls are very thick and slab/floor height are more than what we usually have. So better to keep height of slab sufficient enough with enough opening to allow hot air to pass easily.
Effective ventilation is a good technique, it will bring cold fresh air air as well as wash away the hot polluted air. Wind tower is an old effective technique.
Off-course Green plants must be remembered if possible.
passive design = natural design
the Technics examples :
- Optimize orientation : locate windows to N & S , avoid E&W windows.
- Super insulation and air seal.
- Using renewable energy.
- Ventilation heat recovery.
- Exterior shading devices.
- Passive cooling under (ground cooling).
- Decreasing surface area of the building exposure
- Using material that reflect heat
- Vents at the rooftop effectively induce ventilation and draw hot air out.
- Vegetated roofs.
The different passive techniques without using electricity are quiet a lot...like
ventilation, roof spray, wind towers, shading etc
Planting of trees and we must have a well ventilated area, we must put or use heat insulations.
Protection for Mother Nature is the answer to achive better environment. Planting of trees and other shrubberies helps reduce humidity aside from reducing floods and land errosion.
Introducing indoor Greens to large spaces so as to decrease coolinng load on the AHUs.
Applying tints to window panes would help.
Avoid using west facing windows and infiltraion.
Modifying the temperature at the level of 24 or 25 to be cool room at the same thing and stop the compressor can work at ease and we may have in the electricity sparingly
Thank you for the invitation and I agree with Mr Imran & Mr syed & Mr.Zeeshan
i agree with most of points of imran.we can also provide isolated smoking zones
