You have to bring him/her down for counciling and tell him/her the ensense of what he/she is doing. And bring some instasis of what had happen to me when i was a student, i was a slow learner at school but thank God i had a good teacher who did the same thing that i'm doing to you today, so with all this that will come to his/ her knowledge that is a slow learner. That the logice or stratige to bust a slow learner.

I would say, while trying to explain to student a particular topic, try to associate that said topic to something that is common and being used on day to day basis so his imagination will explore to the things available to his surroundings. For example, when trying to explain depreciation, use the fridge as the asset. While fridge is used everyday, it is worn out and deteriorate. That deterioration is the cost of depreciation that we calculate over the stated useful life of the fridge.

It is also important to have touch point and counselling.
