Inventorying a robot in backup exec means labeling this robot and its media to be added afterwards to the media view. further more the media inserted will be added to the backup exec database. ( by media we mead tape or hard drive).   Media multiplexing means allowing multiple jobs to run simultaneously on the same tape drive.   Netbackup is a cloud based backup for more secure data saving and mobility excluding risks related to hardware malfunctions.

We add media to library or remove media from library, then inventory it so that netbackup knows which tapes are loaded into which slots. If tapes are manually added to, removed from or moved within the library without an inventory subsequently being run then you could end up with errors and failed backups.
