What is dictates the research is a primary objective. The intitial objective could be a primary objective. E.g what is the impact of brand image on consumer preferences for buying xyz product. The primary objective could be a questionnaire, focus group, a hypothesis. The secondary objective is how to manipulate that information. How to evaluate those, and how to give recommendations

First of all we identify the problem and then develop a hypothesis to prove something.

I am not certain as to the point of the question, do you intend to conduct research or do you wish to analyze an existing research? Methodology would mostly be the same albeit different with the former with latter needing citations
