It would be hard to answer this question in black or white. The concept in itself is, however, genuis!! If used wisely and correctly it can churn out results much better and beyond the expectations.

Subliminal marketing or advertising has been a debatable and a grey area for decades. One may argue about the negative or positive impacts of it and the studies too have provided contradicting results. I personally believe it might have an impact on our sub-conscious in certain ways. I do not see anything wrong with hidden messages, as long as they have a postive impact or are just meant to connect the brand with the audience. However, since this very characterstic of subliminal marketing is hard to monitor and regulate, few countries have banned the concept just to avoid any negative influence. But still there are majority of the big brands we know of which have logos or adverts with hidden messages to leave that lasting impression on the consumers' minds.

Yes, definitely ! I think that a designer is so smart to be able to add a hidden message in a logo, and whenever a customer discovers this message, the logo will be unforgettable.

I think it has nothing to do with ethics, basically a logo does not always NEED hidden messages, but in order to make something new, unique and memorable one can do it, it is appreciable and more creative but still not compulsory.

Every action or decision is determined by its end goal. We may not be able to determine the ethics behind such a message but the organisation who created the message may have an promosing end goal they want to communication to their end user. in other words, so far the message doesn't create any controversies I would suggest its a creative and wise thing to do.

A logo is a brand's identity, while many Advertising Agencies encourage the use of smart designs, and even smarter messages behind their logo .
