How do you make the usual power point presentations more interesting and effective during training?

You can't.  Power Point presentations are always boring. 

Couple of tips:

- When you start, forget the slides: create an interesting presentation first.  Add any necessary slides afterwards. 

- With every slide, ask, 'What is this slide for? Why does it make the world a better place?'

- View every slide on a projector, as a bored person at the back of the room would see it.  Is it any good?
