Can u explain different types of wastes?

Solid Waste , Liquid Waste and Gaseous Waste.

Solids is gathered from houses, commercial area like park , hotels ect.

Liquid waste gathered from industrial sector and commercial sector.

Gaseous waste is generated by Chemical Industries.

Waste generated are Solid, Liquid & Gaseous state. Waste are subdivided based on their characteristics:

a) Non-hazardous waste 

b) Hazardous Waste

Non-hazardous waste is those which do not cause harm/damage due to their interaction with the surrounding environment i.e., wood, paper, scrap metal, glass etc. Non-hazardous waste can be further classified depending on waste management or disposal criteria, e.g Recyclable or Non-recyclable, Bio-degradable or Non-biodegradable or inert waste.

Examples of Non-hazardous waste are as follows:

-Paper/Cardboard

- Municipal or household waste

-Metal Scrap

-Glass

-Wood

-Aluminium Cans

-Plastic 

-Food waste

Hazardous waste are those which pose substantial harm to the surrounding environment due to their characteristics or composition. This is determined if the waste has any or all of the following characteristics as follows:

a. Ignitability

b. Corrosivity

c. Reactivity

d. Toxicity

Examples of Hazardous waste are as follows:

- Chemicals

- Industrial wastewater

- Paints

- Oil & Lubricants

- Used oil Filters

- Biomedical Waste

- Printer Cartridges 

- Asbestos

- Radioactive waste

- Expired Drugs / Medicines / chemicals / paints 

- Batteries

- Special Waste 

- E waste or Electronic Waste

All wastes are either recycled/composted, used for energy recovery or treated and disposed of.
