Cross-platform is a description for computer applications. When you say that Microsoft Office is a cross-platform application, it means it runs on more than one platform. The platform here means the Operating System (Windows, Mac, etc.) and/or System Architecture (x86 or x64). For example, Microsoft Office runs on Windows x86, Windows x64, and Apple Macintosh.
