Agree with experts answers thank you It all depends on the staff and mangement too. What an excellent and tactful guy can do in one hour require one day for an ordinary staff. Moreover, deadline also plays an important role in concentrating on the job. If there is no proper job assigned staff may steal time doing nothing. It is important to assess each one and their ability skill and suitability and assign job accordingly to get maximum productivity from each staff as per their talents.

The following approach is a guideline to fight against thives of time or in other words- better time management techniques

1.       Keep to do list, update every day, write down deadlines

2.       Action planning: Break task into steps and do one task at a time

3.       Share task or problem with others but say no to others when short of time

4.       Avoid procrastination: The best time to do something is now.

Prioritize to do the important and urgent task first and not the easy things.

5.       Avoid distraction and interruption in your work- you may do this by coming office earlier or leaving office later as convenient , or keep you cell phone off while doing important things or even keep your door closed for an hour or so while finishing something important

6.       Discourage drop-in visitor from other organization or department

7.       Perseverance: Develop habit to deal with pressure such as regular exercise. Take positive attitude towards failure.

Indulge them into something that cathces their interest,

Someting, time consuming, need creativity.

Like I face one in my organization, I found him wasting time, though he work good and good know how, but he has been doing a similar kind of jobs for a very long time makes him boredum

So I involved him in to a job a bit higer level, let him feel that he has been doing great, now its time to move a bit forward.

Give him a dream to reach a higher lever, now he is working again with all his heart and soul, as he has a chance to prove himself and can earn a raise in salary

In short if one is bored with same routine then give one a bit change. May be a boredum

Or if he is really a thief of time, then again will try to give some job that is more challenging and thrilling also give a sense that if he would not perform a job efficiently, might loose a job as well.

Hope you understand.

Any thoughts??

Good planning of the work to finish on time (check list).

To delegate if needed but also to conduct control on what is being done.

To give regular updates to my boss

To finish the work given at least 24 hours in advance.
