Starting out of a small office in Jabal Amman, Kharabeesh has now grown into a beehive of illustrators, animators, and salespeople who work together to tackle social, cultural, economic, and political issues in the Arab world in a way that truly embodies the vision of its co-founder, Wael Attili.
While Attili maintains that the secret behind Kharabeesh's success lies in its emphasis on creativity rather than profit, I think that Kharabeesh is a business like any other business.
Founders simply recognized and filled a market gap (the need for original Arabic content), made use of the several opportunities that came their way (new media channels, gaming and mobile markets, revolutions in the Arab world), and cleverly monetized their products.
Creativity alone clearly doesn't make a company's market value worth an estimated 7 to 8 million US dollars.
