YES it's a must to help the sales to close deals, retain clients and also be and look professional, these steps can be very short, or very long and detailed depending on the product you're selling.
If you don't do a good need analysis on the prospect, you might end up loosing your time with all the rest of the steps.
Up to the sales on how he/she manages his/her steps, but each one should be in a specific consecutive order.
7 STEPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL SALES PROCESS: 1) Meet & Greet 2) Need Analysis 3) Demostration of the product/ testing (crucial step, closes 60 to 70% of the deal) 4) Negotiation 5) Closing the deal 6) Delivery of the product 7) After Sales & Follow up/ customer service ( retain customer, get more deals from he/she, mantain loyalty) Of course all of the above steps have each a specific way to be done..

well im going to say by process you mean by increasing sales: in that case im going to say you will need a great pitch, also you would need to understand the product and also work your law of averages to your advantage, and understanding your customers hot spot
