For steel beams in a structure, how the load calculation is done if the base is not fixed?

Your question is understood in the way that, Column (beam) is not fixed but hinged at the base.

For hinged supported column, axial forces (Tension/compression) and shear reaction should be arrived as reaction from the external loads.

In case of fixed base, bending moment, compression and shear will be the reaction.
