I have seen translation software advertised in a few places. Is it any good, and do you recommend it?

My dear Aya,

Maybe a translation software makes you gain time and make faster translations. Remember though that the most successful translations are the ones in which you feel a "mind" behind it :)

Wish you all the best,

For any professional translation, all the translation softwares that exist so far are unreliable! for undertsanding context and grasping the majority of the text, it's achievable using softwares but depends on the Language! Some languages are still very difficult to grasp if translated using any sofware!

This depends on several things, for example ; are you a translator or want to be in the future, is the software widely used by translators and so forth like these questions.  Let's say to some extent the software is dependable. Always translation software has the same defect, imperfection, flaw…; "lack of human feeling and touch", in addition to other linguistic problems.  In short, you can make use from many translation programs to some degree, if you are good at both languages, having translation knowledge, means you can modify or avoid the funny and impossible suggested output of your translation software. I do not recommend expensive translation software because I think their problems are common.

I honestly prefer to stick to the traditional translation to avoid any mistakes, even if it takes more time, I feel more at ease by doing so.

I haven't tried it, but it sounds too good to be true. Such software is automated: a certain structure might sound right, when in fact it has nothing to do with the original meaning. I would not recommend it.

You can use it as a dictionary or a general guide because the human language accepts metaphorse and other arts of speech that can never be computerized. thus sticking to the text being translated is the best and using the software as a dictionary may lead to some good results but not as a translator. otherwise you will get "you are mine" translated as follows:

أنت مَنْجم"
