Do all workplaces need to provide portable fire extinguishers?

yes all workplaces requires an extinguisher because thats another way of providing security to the office equipments and accessories. fire extinguishers are among the integral parts of every workplace and is essential because it is safety.

Regarding to OSHA 1910.157(d)(2):

 

The employers shall provide portable fire extinguishers and shall mount, locate and identify them so that they are readily accessible to employees without subjecting the employees to possible injury.

Yes - In case of a fire, fire extinguishers are the only means of combating fire or else alternately one has to evacuate the premises. All Workplaces require Fire Extinguishers - ideally Dry ABC Type which are capable of extinguishing all classes of fires - Type A, B & C, These also need to be validated by a Fire Fighting Specialist Company as operational. Since fire extinguishers have limited capacity to combat fire - typically 10 to 15 seconds it is also necessary to train persons how to use the fire extinguisher as one needs to hit the base of fire during the time of use.

Yes, it depends upon the fire load and fire class , accordingly you need to choose the appropriate extinguisher and also the distance  and other factors are decided by the standards and legislation.

Yes every workplace must be have fire extinguisher after sean assessment the workplaces. Install right fire extinguisher by class of fire.

fire prevention is the top priority in a work site. so we have to provide proper fire extinguishers in each 75 feet or 25 meters. It should be mounted properly and easily accessible. If possible post the fire extinguisher distribution chart posters.

Yes for all the workplaces we need the Portable Fire Extinguishers. Because it can be used in case of Class A,B,C,D & K types of fire as per NFPA.
